Just after 3AM on the cold morning of December 27th, Banksville Fire was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Hobby Farm Drive. With in minutes of dispatch both chiefs called responding and were updated that numerous calls of a house fire had been received. 2581 (Chief Farquhar) transmitted the 10-75 with a special call for Greenwich Engine 8 and Bedford Hills Tower Ladder 57 into the scene due to the heavy volume of fire on arrival. Crews attempted an interior attack but where unsuccessful due to rapidly deteriorating conditions. Crews then set up a exterior attack with numerous master streams in operation. A nursing operation was set up with the Tankers while Engine 157 laid approximately 2000 feet of large diameter hose to a dry hydrant off of Banksville Avenue. Due to the cold weather, a rehab unit from Somers Fire Department was requested to the scene to assist with warming of the firefighters. The ice was a major concern, fortunately there where no injuries. Firefighter where on the scene for approximately 8 hours.
